Quickie - 17/6/2009

Read in The Sun this morning that helpers (that's amah/bibik/maid to us Malaysians) are to be given a day off per week starting from next year. Seems fair, until you actually give it a real thought; The helpers are there to help you. So you need them 24/7, even on the weekends. Thankfully whoever thought of this might have one (or more) and thus gave the option of no day off but pay as usual (pay 7 days wage instead of 6). I know that some 'troubled' (or troublesome or scrupulous) employer will not give them any day off and pay them only 6 days wage, but then shame on them since there level of thinking is as low as the deepest sea (that low, you'd better not call them human...). All in all, i think this is fair (we're humans right? Humanitarian approach lah). The rest is down to the deal between the employer and the employed.

Another thing i found interesting in the papers this morning is regarding Saab being taken over by Koenigsegg (or as Jeremy Clarkson spells it; Koenigsegsonfiajbakikzazzdafhoaf...). Wow! Imagine having a really mad Saab. As i see it now, although Saab utilizes some of the older platforms of the old GM group, their cars are rather atractive and interesteing but as sensible as Volvo (which means very sensible). If Koe-whatever do take them up, the first thing i'd suggest is to put one of their powerful engines into the Saab cars and give them that madness that isn't there. That'll sure spruce up the brand~~~ or they could be even more mad and make that concept-X or sumthing (the one with the fighter jet like entry system)

Go on Koe-whatever. Take up Saab and make it proud!
