Quickie - 10/6/2009

Alhamdulillah~ My engagement with now my fiance went well last weekend. Thinking back, i did imagine that i'll one day be engaged with someone, and here i am.

Thank you Nurul... I love you so much.

Pics? i'll see whether i can make it to the cc tonite and upload it. Got tons of good ones, by virtue of an UNDeR gang member and one of our good friend. Here's hoping to share it too~~~

Anyhow, let's get back to reality. Another maid took refuge from her country's embassy. Reason? Abuse. How bad? Look at today's newspaper and see for yourself. i'm gutted.
What's up with Malaysians taking up a maid and then treating them like.... *tuuuuut? i mean, my family had a few in the past and frankly i've never seen the maid beat up like this. Heck, we never even laid a finger on them. And now, it's like we hear on the news occasionally that one is badly beaten up, not paid their promised salaray, denied of their religious faith and treated like *tuuuut.

Malaysians, please realise that even though that they are maids, they're never slaves. Slavery is only during the period when civilization haven't existed, and we are not in that period now. Grow up. If they don't do their work well, coach them or if you're lazy... chenge for another one. Don't be stupid and say "I am you master! Kneel before me and get punished for your (sometimes minute) errors!!!".

I know i'm being one sided here, but to the maids... please do play your role as well. You aren't paid to lounge around and do mistakes all of the time. But at the very least, please do let your "masters" know that you're human too... and you do slip up sometimes adn will try to improve as you go along.

Hm.... maybe some of us still live in the dark ages. Master and slave? Let's just leave that in the past.
